Back in the roaring 1990's in Flatbush Brooklyn and throughout parts of New York City, it was beyond unsafe for inner city youth to walk around any part of New York with Polo Ralph Lauren attire. Unless you were part of the inner borough crews such as:
- Decepticons (some branched off to be Lo Lives - a Polo only fashion gang)
- Lo life (Started out of MGV and SJP - Marcus Garvey Village projects and Saint John's projects in Crown Heights Brooklyn)
- U.S.A. (United Shoplifters association)
- A (fake Lo life) - you wore Polo but zipped your coat up and wore a no name jacket when out and about in NYC so no one could tell you had Polo on.
To this very day, you can still have a gun put to you in New York if caught by yourself in unfamiliar territory with vintage Polo Ralph Lauren attire. Some vintage items include Polo Snow Beach. Polo crest, Polo bear, Polo Stadium 1992, Polo Ralph Lauren Golf Jack Nicklaus, Polo knit Indian head sweater, Polo cycle, and more. Back in the day, you were also vulnerable to being robbed by your friends if you had a favorable Polo piece on. Raekwon the Chef from the Wu-Tang clan and Victor <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qos9SQ1IXuQ&t=4s" rel="nofollow target="new">big Vic Lo</a> from the Lo Life polo gang are witnesses how violent people can be in NYC when they want to steal Polo.com off someone's back.
If you wear Ralph Lauren out and about and plan on traveling, be mindful where you wear your Polo. Especially if you're wearing a Polo Ralph Lauren snow beach pullover jacket. The colors in the jacket alone and detailing is enough for any stranger to come up to you off the street and rob you at gunpoint. It's a sad truth, but true.
